Some of the most famous quotes from films almost didn’t make it; they were originally written differently. Here’s some examples of original lines of dialogue that were changed for the better:

The Silence of the Lambs (1991)
“A census taker once tried to test me, but I asked him out to dinner. We had beans and wine.”

The Naughty Nineties (1945, Abbott & Costello)
Lou: “Who’s on first?”
Bud: “A guy named Leon MacTeague.”
Lou: “Who?”
Bud: “Exactly.”

When Harry Met Sally (1989)
“What did SHE eat?”

The Wizard of Oz (1939)
“Cripes Toto…this doesn’t look like the place that I know!”

Dr. No (1962)
“My name is James Bond from England.”

Apollo 13 (1995)
“Holy shit Houston…something just fucked up! Big time!”

Citizen Kane (1941)
“My sled….*gak*…”

A Few Good Men (1992)
“The truth?? Haha…yeah right. I don’t THINK so!”
